Kopimatcha Chapter7 — WHAT THE END ?
After that day, something changed.
Nothing major.
Not enough for everyone around them
to notice right away.
But Raga and Hana knew.
Something was different.
They no longer spent so much time
looking for reasons to stay away from each other.
Instead, they started finding
reasons to get closer.
Raga suddenly had plenty of excuses
to buy Hana food.
Sometimes after a meeting.
Sometimes after an event.
Sometimes simply because he happened
to be buying something for himself.
“Han, eat.”
Hana looked at the food Raga was
holding out to her.
“For me?”
“Yeah.”
“Why?”
Raga shrugged.
“I ordered too much.”
“Too much of what?”
“Food.”
Hana knew the excuse sounded
completely made up.
But she took it anyway.
“Thanks.”
Raga simply nodded.
And so did Hana.
She started finding plenty of
reasons to see Raga too.
Sometimes there was a real reason.
Sometimes, not really.
One of them happened to be her
health.
“Ga.”
Raga turned.
“What?”
“Check my health.”
Raga laughed.
“Again?”
“Yeah.”
“What’s with you? Why do you keep
asking me to check you?”
“So I can stay healthy.”
“Excuse.”
Hana smiled.
“Fine. Never mind.”
“Come here.”
Hana immediately sat down.
Raga started checking her.
And somehow, what had started as a
simple excuse slowly turned into a little routine they both enjoyed.
Hana would come over.
Raga would check her.
They would talk.
Sometimes argue.
Sometimes laugh.
Sometimes just sit there without
saying much.
Neither of them ever asked what they
actually were.
Maybe because they already knew.
Or at least, they were starting to.
Raga still loved matcha.
Hana still loved coffee.
They still disagreed about plenty of
things.
They could still argue over the
smallest details.
But now they were beginning to
understand one thing.
Not every difference needed to be
solved.
Not every difference had to be a
reason for someone to walk away.
Sometimes, you just have to accept
that the person you like doesn’t have to like everything you like.
Hana didn’t have to love matcha.
Raga didn’t have to love coffee.
And they didn’t have to agree on
everything.
Because maybe what makes a
relationship feel comfortable isn’t having the same preferences.
Maybe it’s being willing to sit at
the same table even when you order different things.
Coffee for Hana.
Matcha for Raga.
Two different tastes.
Still enjoyed at the same table.
August came around.
And for Hana, that month had one
particularly special day.
Her birthday.
Hana never really expected much.
She wasn’t the type to make a big
deal out of her birthday.
A few birthday wishes from friends
were enough.
No party.
No expensive gifts.
Nothing over the top.
But there was one thing Hana never
expected.
Raga remembered.
That day, Hana received birthday
wishes from a few people.
Messages came in one after another.
Until finally, there was one message
from Raga.
Happy birthday, Han.
Simple.
But Hana smiled when she read it.
Not long after, Raga showed up
carrying something.
“Here.”
Hana looked at what he was holding
out to her.
“A gift?”
Raga nodded.
“For me?”
“Who else would it be for?”
Hana let out a small laugh.
She took it with both hands.
“Why did you get me this?”
“It’s your birthday.”
“I know.”
“Then there you go.”
Hana looked at Raga for a few
seconds.
Something about the moment felt
different.
Maybe because she had never really
been treated that way by a guy who meant so much to her.
Raga was the first guy in Hana’s
life to wish her a happy birthday in a way that made her feel genuinely
remembered.
And it wasn’t just a birthday
message.
There was something she could actually
hold in her hands.
A small gift.
It didn’t have to be expensive.
It didn’t have to be fancy.
It was special simply because it
came from the right person.
“Thanks, Ga.”
Raga smiled.
“Hope you like it.”
Hana nodded.
“I do.”
For a few seconds, they simply looked
at each other.
Neither of them said anything.
But maybe they didn’t need to.
Some things are easier to feel than
they are to explain.
If you really thought about it,
maybe their story had never made much sense in the first place.
Hana loved coffee.
Raga loved matcha.
Hana could be a little nervous.
Raga was naturally outgoing.
Hana was straightforward.
Raga was way too laid-back.
They were different in so many ways.
But now, those differences no longer
felt like a problem.
Hana was learning to accept that
Raga would probably always enjoy things she didn’t.
And Raga was beginning to understand
that Hana didn’t have to see things the way he did.
They didn’t have to become the same.
They didn’t have to be perfect.
They didn’t have to agree all the
time.
Because liking someone doesn’t mean
liking everything about them.
Sometimes, you like someone
precisely because there are still so many things about them you want to
discover.
So, what happens in the end?
No one knows.
Maybe one day Raga will finally say
what he’s been keeping to himself.
Maybe Hana will be the one to
confess first.
Maybe they’ll become something more
than two people who care about each other.
Or maybe they won’t.
What they do know is that they
started out as two people who thought they didn’t really fit.
Two people who couldn’t even agree
on something as simple as what to drink.
One chose coffee.
The other chose matcha.
But they learned that differences
aren’t always a reason to walk away.
Sometimes, differences are exactly
what make you want to stay a little longer.
Because coffee doesn’t have to
become matcha.
And matcha doesn’t have to become
coffee.
They just have to remain themselves.
And if there’s a table big enough
for both of them, why should either one have to choose?
Let Hana have her coffee.
Let Raga have his matcha.
And let time decide where their
story goes from here.
Because when it comes to their story, the ending is still in their hands.
